Health & Wellness

Cancer Support & Wellness Program

Culturally-responsive support for cancer patients and families in Clark County — transportation to treatment, meal support, caregiver relief, support groups, and screening events.

Serving Caribbean, African-American, immigrant, and underserved communities. Partners include local hospitals, oncology centers, the American Cancer Society, and Susan G. Komen Nevada. Aligned with Nevada DHHS, Clark County, and HRSA community-health funding priorities.

Neighborhood Support Fund

Allowing residents and local businesses to donate or sponsor meals and emergency assistance for neighbors in need.

Powered by community giving. Funding paths: crowdfunding and the Nextdoor Community Fund. Donor and sponsorship tiers available.

Youth & Education

Workforce & Training Program

Training volunteers and residents in food handling, logistics, and community service to build job-ready skills.

Delivered in partnership with Workforce Connections NV and local colleges. Funding path: Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funds.

Community Support

Community Food Recovery Network

Building a coalition of restaurants and hotels that safely donate surplus prepared food, protected under the Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Food Donation Act.

Key partners include the Southern Nevada Health District, food-service businesses, and volunteers. Funding paths: USDA Community Food Projects Grant and local foundations.

Community Support

Daily Warm Meals Outreach

Collecting surplus food from restaurants and hotels to serve warm breakfast and dinner to homeless and food-insecure residents across Las Vegas.

A volunteer-driven program providing fresh meals twice daily. Partners include Jamaican restaurants, hotels, and fast-food chains. Funding paths: Clark County Community Resources grants, Nevada Food Security Initiative, and corporate sponsorships.

Advocacy

Civic Engagement & Voter Education

Non-partisan civic education and voter awareness for Nevada residents.

Workshops on civic rights, voter registration drives, and community leadership training.

Health & Wellness

Health Screenings

Free community health screenings in partnership with Nevada providers.

Blood pressure, glucose, and mental health awareness sessions held quarterly.

Community Support

Senior Outreach & Wellness

Wellness checks, social gatherings, and resource referrals for Jamaican seniors in the Las Vegas Valley.

Monthly luncheons, transportation assistance, and health screenings in partnership with local providers.

Youth & Education

Scholarship Assistance

Annual scholarships for graduating high school seniors pursuing higher education.

Applications open each spring. Awards based on academic merit, community involvement, and need.

Youth & Education

After-School Tutoring

Free academic support for K-12 students of Jamaican heritage and the broader community.

Subjects include math, reading, science, and college prep. Volunteer tutors and certified educators provide one-on-one and small-group help.

Cultural

Jamaican Independence Celebration

Annual celebration of Jamaican Independence with food, music, and heritage.

Held each August. Features traditional cuisine, dancehall and reggae artists, cultural performances, and family-friendly activities.
